Museum Tours

The Bohart Museum is open to visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through
Thursday. Family groups are welcome any time during these hours, but the doors may
sometimes be locked for lunchtime meetings. Displays on various insect related topics
are available both inside and outside the museum. Plus you can get face to face
with our extensive collection of live insects. Admission is free, but money placed
in our donation box helps feed and house the zoo animals. Organized groups (school
classes, boy or girl scout packs, home school groups) require advanced reservations.
The guided tours available to these groups feature a walk down Butterfly Aisle,
the "Oh My!" collection, and selected members of our Arthropod Petting Zoo. The
tours cost $2.00 per student. (This is a working lab and is probably not an appropriate
environment for preschool groups.) Call Steve Heydon at 530 752–0493 for reservations.
Can’t bring your group? Call Steve and set up a visit to your location. The cost
is $100 for a 30–45 minute presentation.
Tour Schedule
Be advised that the Bohart Museum can only accomodate one or two tour groups per
week, and the tour schedule fills up approximately 3 months in advance of the tour
dates.
Other Campus Sites
Because large groups will be subdivided into smaller groups for tours of the museum,
there may be long wait times for most of the group (up to 1 1/2 hours for groups
of 33 or more). Therefore, group leaders may want to consider visiting other campus
sites in conjunction with a visit to the Bohart Museum. Check out this University
Outreach website for other campus locations to visit.
